Portfolio > Consumption Paintings

This image was by far one of the greatest tests of draftsmanship and perseverance I have experienced from a single piece of work. This squirming pile of fish is hopefully as delightful to view as it was to make. In this painting, I referenced many of the picture books I loved best as a child, the ones with all the details on the pages. You can see kids with these books and watch as they stare at and touch the pages, counting the jars of candy on a shelf or petals on flowers. I find myself occasionally doing the same with FISH!.

Started this image thinking it would be simple and fun, but weeks later I found myself eatting a lot of sushi and occasionally shaking my fists at the heavens and screaming "FISH!"
